We will change the server for your hosting account on Sunday April 14th. 

If you use our nameservers (or your own vanity nameservers pointed to our systems) you do not need to do anything from your side. During this work you may however notice a short period of downtime - under 15 minutes in most cases - as your account data is moved to the new system.

For advanced users.

As part of this migration your website's IP address will change. If you do not use our nameservers the new IP you will need is "192.250.229.38", and the new server hostname  will be "s2910.fra1.stableserver.net". Web requests and mail from the old IP will be proxied to the new system for 7 days to ease the transition. The server hostname will also be repointed to the new IP at the end of the migration. This is the last time we anticipate needing to change IPs for this kind of work. If you have any queries please create a support ticket and we can help.

Are there any other improvements?

Yes - we will be updating the default versions of popular software to make deploying new sites easier. PHP for new accounts will default to 8.2, and MariaDB (our MySQL server) will be updated to 10.6. PHP versions/settings for existing accounts will be kept so if you require an older version, you do not need to make any changes. The change only affects accounts created after the migration. You can also control versions at any time with the 'Select PHP Version' button in cPanel and if you do notice an older version configured there, we highly recommend updating to PHP 8.2 if your website supports it.

In some cases we will also separate larger accounts to different servers in order to ensure that all of our systems are balanced. We will be in touch directly if this is the case for your account.

Finally, these upgrades mean it will now be easier for us to offer custom server types and sizes so if you have any requirements please ask - we will also price match any like-for-like provider.
